The first post-credits scene for Doctor Strange is set during the film’s midway point. In it, we see the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) teaching Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) the ways of magic. This scene is important because it sets up the film’s main conflict.

What happens

After the end of the movie, there are two post-credit scenes. In the first, Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) is shown visiting Jonathan Pangborn (Benjamin Bratt), the man Strange healed years earlier of a spinal injury. Mordo tells Pangborn that he has been stealing magic from other sorcerers in order to kill them, as he believes there is already too much magic in the world.

In the second scene, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) arrives on Earth to speak with Strange about locating Odin (Anthony Hopkins).

What it means for the MCU

The post-credits scene in Doctor Strange is a long one, and features not one but two different scenes. The first of these is a brief teaser for what’s to come in Thor: Ragnarok, while the second is a more significant set-up for Avengers: Infinity War.

In the first scene, we see Thor (Chris Hemsworth) turn up at the Sanctum Sanctorum — the New York home of Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) — looking for help. He explains that Loki (Tom Hiddleston) has taken Asgard hostage, and Heimdall (Idris Elba) isn’t able to see him coming.

Doctor Strange tells Thor that he’ll need to find someone else to help him, as he’s needed elsewhere. This is a direct setup for Infinity War, in which Doctor Strange will presumably play a major role. We already know from the trailer that he comes into contact with Thanos at some point, so it seems likely that this will be part of his story arc in the film.

The second scene in the post-credits sequence is a conversation between Bruce Banner/the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Wong (Benedict Wong).Banner has just woken up from what appears to beenstein might not be “real” people, they can symbolize actual people or groups in our lives. As we become more aware of our dreams and what they mean, we can start to see patterns emerge. These patterns often reveal things about our relationships, our fears and desires, and even our core values.

The second post-credits scene for Doctor Strange features Benedict Cumberbatch’s Strange meeting with Thor (Chris Hemsworth). The scene is set after the events of Avengers: Infinity War, and it sees Strange giving Thor some advice on how to defeat Thanos.

What happens

The post-credits scene for Doctor Strange features the Sorcerer Supreme (Benedict Cumberbatch) meeting with Thor (Chris Hemsworth). Strange offers to help Thor find his missing father, Odin (Anthony Hopkins), and in exchange, Thor agrees to let Strange keep an eye on his brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston), who is currently posing as Odin on Asgard.

This is the second post-credits scene in Doctor Strange, following one earlier in the film that featured Strange meeting with fellow superhero Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.).

What it means for the MCU

The second post-credits scene for Doctor Strange offers insight into one of the biggest mysteries of the MCU. What happened to S.H.I.E.L.D.?

In the scene, we see Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) driving through New York City discussing the recent attack on Greenwich Village by the Hand. Fury is concerned that this is only the beginning and that they need to do something about it.

When they get to their destination, we see that they are at a cemetery. Maria asks Nick why they’re there and he responds with, “He was my friend.” We then see that they are there to visit the grave of Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg).

This post-credits scene tells us a lot about what has happened in the MCU since we last saw S.H.I.E.L.D.. We know that Coulson is dead and that Fury and Hill are now working together again to try and stop whatever threat the Hand poses.

We also get a hint at what could be coming next for the MCU with Fury saying, “This isn’t going to be the last time we see them.” This could mean that we will be seeing more of the Hand in future movies or it could tease another villainous group such as Hydra or AIM. There are three post-credit scenes in Doctor Strange. The first scene shows Doctor Strange meeting with Thor. The second scene shows Doctor Strange in his Sanctum Sanctorum with Wong. The third and final scene shows Doctor Strange meeting with Nick Fury.

What happens

The first post-credits scene is a direct confrontation between Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston). Strange has Loki captive, and is trying to get information out of him about Thanos. Loki, however, is playing coy, and insists that he knows nothing. Strange doesn’t believe him, but eventually let’s him go.

The second post-credits scene is a bit of a humorous relief after the intensity of the first one. It shows Thor (Chris Hemsworth) arriving on Earth to talk to Strange about working together to stop Thanos. However, Thor is more interested in finding his lost hammer, Mjolnir, which Strange has in his possession. Strange tells Thor he can’t have it back, and the scene ends withThor looking disappointed.

The third and final post-credits scene is a bit of a mystery. It shows Strange opening a door with the Eye of Agamotto (the Time Stone) to watch over alternate realities. He sees one reality where Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) dies, and another where Bruce Banner/Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) fails to stop Thanos. The meaning of this scene is not yet clear, but it seems to hint at things that will happen in Avengers: Infinity War.

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR DOCTOR STRANGE

He says that there are already too many magic users in the world, and that they are corrupting it. He then teleports away, leaving a stunned Doctor Strange behind.

The second post-credits scene takes place some time later, as Strange is seen meditating in his sanctum sanctorum. Suddenly, he is interrupted by the appearance of Thor (Chris Hemsworth), who has come to ask for his help in finding Odin (Anthony Hopkins). Strange is initially reluctant to help Thor, but he eventually agrees when he realizes that Asgard is in danger. The scene then cuts to black as Thor and Strange prepare to leave for Asgard.

The third and final post-credits scene takes place at an undisclosed location, where we see a hooded figure materialize out of thin air. The figure removes his hood to reveal himself as none other than Jonathan Pangborn (Benjamin Bratt), the former paraplegic who was able to walk again thanks to Doctor Strange’s help. Pangborn says that he has been searching for someone like Strange, and that he needs his help. The scene then ends with Pangborn walking away into the distance as credits start to roll.
