How Many Post-Credit Scenes Are There?

There are a total of four post-credit scenes in Dr. Strange. The first two tease future movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while the last two are more light-hearted and feature the characters from the movie.

The first post-credit scene shows Thor recruiting Doctor Strange to help him find Odin, who has gone missing. This sets up Thor: Ragnarok, which hit theaters in November 2017.

The second post-credit scene shows Mordo stealing energy from other sorcerers so that he can ” balances the world.” This could be a hint at his eventual turn to villainy in future movies.

The third post-credit scene features Strange and Wong playing a game of wizards chess. This is a fun little scene that doesn’t really have any bearing on the larger MCU.

The fourth and final post-credit scene shows Strange offering help to Thor once again, this time specifically for finding Tony Stark aka Iron Man. This is a direct setup for Avengers: Infinity War, which was released in April 2018.

What Order Should You Watch the Post-Credit Scenes?

Dr. Strange has two post-credit scenes, one at the very end and one a few minutes after the credits start rolling.

The first post-credit scene features Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth). In it, Thor recruits Strange to help him find Odin (Anthony Hopkins), who has gone missing.

The second post-credit scene is a repeat of the mid-credits scene from Thor: Ragnarok. It shows Loki (Tom Hiddleston) giving the Tesseract, one of the Infinity Stones, to Thanos (Josh Brolin).

What Happens in the Post-Credit Scenes?

There are two post-credit scenes in Dr. Strange. The first shows Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) meeting with Thor (Chris Hemsworth), who has come to ask for his help in finding his missing father Odin (Anthony Hopkins). The second scene shows Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) vowing to kill all sorcerers after he witnesses Doctor Strange break the rules by using time travel.

Why Are There So Many Post-Credit Scenes?

Moviegoers who stuck around until the very end of 2016’s Doctor Strange were treated to not one, not two, but five post-credit scenes. That’s a lot of extra footage for a movie that was already almost two and a half hours long! So why were there so many post-credit scenes in Doctor Strange?

As it turns out, the answer is fairly simple. Doctor Strange is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and post-credit scenes are sort of a tradition in MCU movies. In fact,Doctor Strange actually has the second-most post-credit scenes of any MCU movie, behind only Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which has six.

So if you’re a fan of the MCU and you’re planning on seeing Doctor Strange, be prepared to stay in your seat for a while after the credits start rolling!

How Do the Post-Credit Scenes Connect to the Rest of the MCU?

The Mid-Credits Scene:
The first post-credit scene shows Thor (Chris Hemsworth) visiting Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to ask for his help. Thor explains that Odin (Anthony Hopkins) is missing and that he needs help finding him. Dr. Strange agrees to help and the two of them teleport away.

The End-Credits Scene:
The second post-credit scene takes place in space, where we see The Collector (Benicio Del Toro) talking to the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum). The Collector has just lost his entire collection and he is not happy about it. The Grandmaster on the other hand is quite pleased with himself. He then asks the Collector if he wants to play a game and the scene fades to black.
