How Many After Credit Scenes Are There?

At the end of Doctor Strange, there was a whopping five extra scenes during and after the credits. Two of those scenes were post-credits scenes, while the other three were extra little snippets that further expanded on the film’s story. So how many after credit scenes are there in Doctor Strange 2?

As it turns out, there are only two after credit scenes in Doctor Strange 2. The first post-credits scene occurs about halfway through the credits, and features Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) discussing the depletion of magic users in the world. The second and final scene happens right at the very end of the credits, and sees Mordo stealing a bunch of books from a library as he begins his quest to rid the world of all magic users.

What Happens in the Scenes?

Doctor Strange 2 features not one, not two, but five scenes during or after the credits. Marvel Studios is known for its post-credits scenes, and this film is no exception.

The first scene is a brief one, showing Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Master Wong (Benedict Wong) discussing the recent events. Master Wong insists that they must be more careful in the future, and Doctor Strange agrees.

The second scene is a bit longer, and features Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) as he travels the world, collecting magical artifacts and seeking out those who abuse their power. He comes across a young girl using magic to help her ill mother, and after a brief discussion with her, leaves her with a serious warning.

The third scene takes place in Kamar-Taj, where Doctor Strange is teaching a class. The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) interrupts him to ask for his help with something. She then asks him about his mentor, Baron Karl Mordo (Ejiofor), before disappearing in a flash of light.

The fourth scene is another brief one, showing Mordo still collecting magical artifacts around the world. He comes across an elderly man using magic to stay alive long past his natural lifespan. Mordo appears to kill the man after a short discussion, muttering about how there are “too many” like him in the world.

The fifth and final scene shows Doctor Strange and Clea (Rachel McAdams) in the Sanctum Sanctorum, discussing Mordo’s actions. Doctor Strange says that he believes there may be hope for Mordo yet, before the scene fades to black.

What Do the Scenes Mean for the Future of the MCU?

Doctor Strange 2: How Many After Credit Scenes Are There?
The answer, unfortunately, is a big fat zero. As was the case with the first film, there are no post or mid-credits scenes in Doctor Strange 2, which means that if you’re hoping to get a tease for what’s coming next in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you’re out of luck.

That said, there is a stinger during the credits that offers a bit of context for what Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) has been up to since we saw him last. Namely, he’s been busy trying to track down Daniel Drumm (MarkAnthony Brighton), the evil sorcerer who was resurrected at the end of the first film. The scene in question finds Strange and Wong (Benedict Wong) in Hong Kong, where they eventually find Drumm and engage in a brief battle with him. Though they defeat him fairly easily, it’s clear that this is a problem that’s not going away anytime soon.

So while there’s no tease for what’s coming next in the MCU, this scene does at least set up a potential conflict for Doctor Strange in his next outing. Whether or not that will actually happen remains to be seen, but it’s certainly something to keep an eye on.
