Doctor Strange 2: How Many Post-Credit Scenes Are There?
There are two post-credit scenes in Doctor Strange 2. The first one is a brief glimpse of what’s to come in the next Avengers movie and the second is a comical outtake involving Benedict Cumberbatch’s character, Doctor Strange.
What Happens in the Post-Credit Scenes?
Warning: this article contains spoilers for Doctor Strange 2.
In the first post-credit scene, we see Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) looking at all the famous statues of surgeons and other doctors around the world. He observes that they are all doers of good, but says that there are too many of them and that they “take too much.” He then proceeds to break each statue, one by one.
In the second post-credit scene, we see Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) in his Sanctum Sanctorum meditating. He then gets a visit from Thor (Chris Hemsworth), who has come to ask for Strange’s help in finding Odin (Thor’s father, played by Anthony Hopkins). Strange tells Thor that he is not interested in helping him, but Thor says that he is desperate and will take any help he can get. Strange then begrudgingly agrees to help Thor find Odin.
What Do the Post-Credit Scenes Mean for the Future of the MCU?
Warning: This post contains spoilers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness features not one, not two, but three post-credit scenes — two at the very end, and one during the credits. And while they’re all fun and entertaining, they also set up some pretty big things for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The first post-credit scene takes place during the credits, and shows Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) trying to access her memories of what happened to her during Avengers: Endgame. All she can see is darkness, and she gets increasingly distressed as she tries to remember. Suddenly, a voice tells her to “look deeper,” and she begins to see images from her time as part of Thanos’ army on Titan. Eventually, she sees herself killing Vision (Paul Bettany), which sends her into a panic. At this point, Wanda Maximoff snaps out of her vision, and we see that she’s actually in a therapist’s office. She tells the therapist that she’s been having these visions ever since Vision died, and that they’re getting stronger and more frequent.
The second post-credit scene picks up where the first one left off, with Scarlet Witch still in her therapist’s office. However, this time we see a figure shrouded in darkness sitting in the corner of the room. The figure reveals itself to be none other than Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn), a powerful witch who has been manipulating Wanda throughout the film. Agatha tells Wanda that she needs help controlling her powers, or else they will consume her entirely. Wanda agrees to let Agatha help her, but it’s clear that she’s not happy about it.
The final post-credit scene takes place sometime after the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. We see Loki (Tom Hiddleston) sitting in a cell aboard a vessel belonging to an unknown party. He is given a book by an unknown figure, and told that he has “unfinished business” with someone called The Mighty Thor. Loki then looks at the book and sees an image of Thor (Chris Hemsworth), which seems to please him immensely.
