What is ACE Credit?
ACE Credit is a credit recommendation service of the American Council on Education. We help students and adults improve their careers by making recommendations for credit prior to enrolling in courses or training programs.
When a student completes a course or program that has been evaluated and recommended for college credit by ACE Credit, he or she may then request that an official transcript be sent to the college or university of his or her choice. The receiving institution may then choose to award the student collegiate credit, advanced placement, or both, based on its own policies.
How does it work?
ACE Credit is a non-profit organization that works with educational institutions and employers to assess and recommend credit for learning that has occurred outside the traditional college classroom.
ACE Credit provides educators and employers with an objective, standardized way to evaluate and recommend credit for relevant learning experiences, including:
Military training
Professional development
Online courses
Workforce training programs
License and certification exams
This can simplify the college credit evaluation process for both students and academic advisors. And it can give employers confidence that employees who receive ACE Credit recommendations have demonstrated the required knowledge and skills.
What are the benefits?
ACE Credit is a program that allows students to earn college credit for courses they have taken outside of the traditional college setting. This can include courses taken online, at community colleges, or even through certain employers. The benefits of enrolling in the ACE Credit program are numerous, but some of the most significant include the following:
-Allows students to earn college credit for non-traditional coursework: As mentioned above, one of the major benefits of ACE Credit is that it allows students to earn college credit for coursework that they may not have otherwise been able to receive credit for. This can save students a significant amount of time and money by allowing them to get credits for courses they have already taken instead of having to retake the courses at their college or university.
-Flexibility in when and how you take courses: Another benefit of the ACE Credit program is that it offers students a great deal of flexibility in when and how they take courses. Students who enroll in the program are not required to take courses at a specific time or pace, which can be helpful for those who are juggling work and school or who have other commitments that make attending traditional classes difficult.
-Access to a wide range of courses: The ACE Credit program gives students access to a wide range of courses, which can be helpful if you are looking for specific classes that your school does not offer or if you want to try something new.
If you are considering enrolling in the ACE Credit program, be sure to speak with your academic advisor to see if it is right for you.
How do I get started?
If you’re interested in pursuing ACE Credit, there are a few things you should know before getting started. First and foremost, ACE Credit is a voluntary program. This means that it’s up to each individual institution whether or not they choose to participate. If your school is not currently participating in ACE Credit, you may still be able to receive credit for your work or life experience by taking exams through the program.
To get started, you’ll need to create an account on the ACE Credit website. From there, you’ll be able to search for participating schools and organizations, as well as browse a list of available exams. Once you’ve found an exam that interests you, you can register and pay the associated fee. Once you’ve completed the exam, your score will be sent to the school or organization of your choice for review.
