What is a COE?
A Certificate of Eligibility (COE) is a document that proves you are eligible for a VA-backed loan. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) sends the COE to the lender after you apply for and are approved for a VA-backed loan.
The first step in getting a VA-backed home loan is to apply for a Certificate of Eligibility (COE). This certificate is issued only through the Veterans Administration. You can apply online, by mail or in person, or have your lender request one on your behalf.
If you’re eligible, you’ll receive your COE in one of two ways:
-You may get it automatically if you get military pay through direct deposit.
-If you don’t get pay through direct deposit, the VA will mail your COE to you. This generally takes about 30 days from the time you applied for your loan.
Once you have your COE, there are several things you can do with it:
-You can give it to your lender and they can help you find a suitable home and negotiate terms with the seller.
-You can use it to buy a home on your own and then look for a lender who will finance the purchase.

If you’re a veteran, you may be eligible for a VA loan. A VA loan is a mortgage loan that’s guaranteed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The VA doesn’t actually lend the money for the mortgage; they just insure the loan in case the borrower defaults. This makes it easier for veterans to get a mortgage because borrowers don’t have to worry about finding a lender who is willing to take on the risk of lending to a veteran.
In order to get a VA loan, you need to obtain a Certificate of Eligibility (COE). The COE proves that you are eligible for a VA loan and it also shows how much money you are entitled to borrow. You can get a COE from the VA or from a lender.
If you want to get your COE from the VA, you can do so online, by mail, or in person. To apply online, you’ll need to create an account on eBenefits, which is the portal for all things related to benefits for veterans. Once you’ve created an account, you can log in and complete the application for a COE.
If you prefer to apply by mail, you can fill out an application form and send it to your regional VA office. You can find the address of your regional office on the VA website.
Finally, if you want to apply in person, you can go to your local VA office and submit your application there. You may be asked to provide some additional documentation, so it’s always a good idea to call ahead and see what will be required.
Once you have your COE, you can use it to apply for a VA loan with any lender who participates in the VA home loan program. When applying for the loan, be sure to ask about any fees that may be associated with getting a VA loan as well as any special benefits that may be available to veterans.
