How Many Post-Credit Scenes Are There?

Doctor Strange 2 has five post-credit scenes, which is the most of any Marvel movie to date.

The first post-credit scene shows Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Wong (Benedict Wong) in the Sanctum Sanctorum discussing the Time Stone. Wong warns Strange not to use the Time Stone to fix relationships or change the past, but Strange insists that he would never do such a thing.

The second post-credit scene shows Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) arriving in New York City. Thor tells Loki that they are looking for their father Odin (Anthony Hopkins), who they believe is hiding on Earth.

The third post-credit scene shows Doctor Strange in England meeting with Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor). Mordo has become disillusioned with the sorcerers and wants to steal their power. He blames Doctor Strange for ruining his life, but Doctor Strange insists that he only did what was necessary.

The fourth post-credit scene shows Peter Parker (Tom Holland) in his school science class. His teacher asks him to explain his findings from his recent field trip to Washington D.C., but Peter is distracted by his Spider-Sense going off. He excuse himself from class and goes to stop a robbery, revealing his secret identity to his classmates in the process.

The fifth and final post-credit scene shows Thanos (Josh Brolin) on a desolate planet. He has finally acquired all of the Infinity Stones and plans to use them to destroy half of all life in the universe.

What Happens in the Post-Credit Scenes?

Doctor Strange 2 features not one, not two, but three post-credit scenes. And they’re all worth staying in your seat for.

The first scene takes place in Nepal, where we see Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) breaking into a home to steal a staff from a sleeping man. He then looks at all the sleeping people in the world and says, “There are too many sorcerers.” It’s a setup for Mordo’s arc in the next movie, which will likely see him becoming more of a villain.

The second scene takes place in space, where we see Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) talking about how they miss Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). They then spot something strange happening on Earth and fly off to investigate. This is probably a setup for Thor: Love and Thunder, which will see Thor teaming up with Doctor Strange.

The third and final scene takes place in New York City, where we see Doctor Strange meeting with someone (possibly Tony Stark/Iron Man). He says that he’s been keeping an eye on potential threats and that he thinks it’s time for the Avengers to reunite. This is likely a setup for Avengers: Infinity War.

What Do the Post-Credit Scenes Mean for the Future of the MCU?

Doctor Strange 2: How Many Post-Credit Scenes Are There?

Doctor Strange 2 has two post-credit scenes which tease the future of the MCU. The first scene sees Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) meeting with Thor (Chris Hemsworth) to discuss the threat of Thanos. The second scene is a mid-credits sequence which features Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) stealing pages from the Book of Cagliostro in order to eliminate all sorcerers.

Both scenes are connected and set up potential plot threads for future movies. Thor’s appearance in Doctor Strange 2 confirms that he will play a role in the next Avengers movie, while Mordo’s actions tee up a possible villainous turn in a future Doctor Strange sequel.

The post-credit scenes in Doctor Strange 2 are brief but important, setting up some big things to come in the MCU.
