How to find your PPP loan number
If you applied for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) through the Small Business Administration (SBA), you should have received a loan number. This number is important as you will need it to apply for forgiveness. If you are having trouble finding your loan number, here are a few tips.
Check your loan documents
If you received a physical copy of your loan documents, your PPP loan number will be listed on the first page, along with the date of disbursement and your lender’s information.
If you received your loan documents electronically, you should be able to find your PPP loan number in the email or attachment that contained your loan documents. If you can’t find your PPP loan number in your email, try searching for “PPP loan number” in the subject line or body of the email.
You can also check the SBA’s Loan Lookup tool to find your PPP loan number. To use the Loan Lookup tool, you’ll need to provide your legal name, date of birth, Social Security number, and street address.
Check your email
If you applied for a PPP loan with an SBA-approved lender, you should have received an email from the lender with your loan number. This information may also be available in the online portal set up by your lender.
If you applied for a PPP loan through the EZ or Standard application process on the SBA’s website, you will receive an email from SBA with your 7-digit loan number and additional instructions within five business days after the lender has notified SBA of your approved loan.
You can also check with your lender to see if they can provide you with your loan number.
Check the SBA website
If you’re looking for your PPP loan number, the best place to start is the SBA website. You can use the “Find a Loan” tool to search for your loan by either your name or your business’ name. Once you’ve found your loan, the loan number will be displayed on the right-hand side of the page.
If you can’t find your loan number on the SBA website, another place to check is your lender’s website. Many lenders are posting lists of their PPP borrowers, which include the borrower’s name and loan number. If you still can’t find your loan number, give your lender a call and they should be able to help you out.
How to use your PPP loan number
Your PPP loan number is important because it is how your lender will identify your loan. This number is also how the government will track how much money has been dispersed through the PPP program. To find your PPP loan number, you will need to contact your lender.
Activate your loan
After you have been approved for a PPP loan, you will be given a loan number. This number is your ticket to beginning the process of receiving your loan disbursement. To activate your loan, you will need to contact your lender and provide them with your loan number. Once they have verified your identity and approved your loan, they will begin the process of transferring the funds to your business account.
Get your loan forgiven
To have your Paycheck Protection Program loan forgiven, you must complete and submit the Loan Forgiveness Application to your lender. The Small Business Administration (SBA) will then review your application and make a determination.
According to the SBA’s instructions for the Loan Forgiveness Application, you’ll need to provide your:
