How Many End Credit Scenes Are There?
As of right now, there are two end credit scenes in Dr. Strange. One mid-credits and one post-credits. The mid-credits scene focuses on Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) meeting for the first time. Thor has come to ask Strange for help finding his missing father Odin (Anthony Hopkins). The scene is a nice tease for Thor: Ragnarok, which comes out in November 2017.
The post-credits scene, on the other hand, is a bit more mysterious. It shows Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) breaking into the home of Jonathan Pangborn (Benjamin Bratt), a man who was able to walk again after Mordo used his magic on him earlier in the film. Mordo tells Pangborn that he “stole” his power and that he’s going to “take” it back from others too. It’s not clear what Mordo’s plan is or why he’s doing this, but it definitely sets him up as the villain of a potential sequel.
What Order Should I Watch the End Credit Scenes In?
The end credit scenes in Doctor Strange are meant to be watched in a specific order. Here is the order you should watch them in:
1. The first scene shows Dr. Strange and Mordo discussing the nature of good and evil. This scene is meant to be watched after the credits have started rolling.
2. The second scene shows Thor arriving on Earth to speak with Strange about Loki’s whereabouts. This scene is meant to be watched after the first few minutes of the credits have passed.
3. The third and final scene shows Thanos being briefed by his underling, Ebony Maw, about the Infinity Stones. This scene is meant to be watched near the end of the credits.
What Do the End Credit Scenes Mean for the Future of the MCU?
Since the release of 2008’s Iron Man, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become known for its post-credits scenes. These brief scenes often tease upcoming projects or offer a fun easter egg for fans to enjoy. With the release of Doctor Strange, the MCU has now reached its 14th film. And, as is now customary, Doctor Strange features two post-credits scenes. But what do these scenes mean for the future of the MCU?
The first scene shows Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) meeting with Thor (Chris Hemsworth). The two discuss Loki (Tom Hiddleston), who is currently being held prisoner by Odin (Anthony Hopkins). Strange offers to help Thor find his brother, and the two leave to go find Odin. This scene is clearly setting up Thor: Ragnarok, which will see Thor teaming up with Strange to take on Loki and Hela (Cate Blanchett).
The second scene takes place in Korea, where we see Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) and Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) discussing the Sokovia Accords. The Accords are a set of regulations that dictate how Enhanced individuals can operate within the Avengers. This scene is clearly setting up Captain America: Civil War, which will see divisions forming within the Avengers over whether or not to sign the Accords.
